COLORADO THEFT LAW
Colorado Revised Statutes define Theft as the taking of something of value from another person without their permission, and with the intent to permanently keep the item taken.
Theft may also be charged for the concealment of an item, for receiving stolen items, for taking a motor vehicle, for taking medical records, for passing false/bad checks, and for altering or forging prescriptions. Theft charges can be a small Petty Offense or even as serious as a Class 2 Felony charge.

C.R.S. 18-4-401 - THEFT
Theft is an all-encompassing charge for when a person knowingly obtains, retains, or exercises control over anything of value of another person without authorization or by threat or deception, and where the person has the intent to deprive the other person of the value or benefit of the value of the item taken.
