Colorado Revised Statutes define Tampering as the knowing or unlawful tampering, interruption, or impairment of a public utility; keeping an institution from providing health or safety protection by tampering with a utility; or tampering with the property of another with the intent to cause an injury, inconvenience, or annoyance to the other person.

Tampering is charged as a misdemeanor, but can often include other charges, and is taken very serious by law enforcement and other authorities. There are two types of Tampering charges in Colorado:

First Degree Criminal Tampering (C.R.S. 18-4-505)

Tampering can also include the tampering with any oil and gas equipment or even tampering with utility meters. Tampering can also be charged for the tampering with evidence of a crime.
