FIREARMS CRIMES AND RIGHTS
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution enshrines one of the most important rights that a U.S. Citizens has, the right to “keep and bear arms….” This right is often described as the first right among many, as this one right allows citizens the right to own or possess firearms, and the ownership of firearms is thought to allow citizens to protect all of their other rights.
One can also be assured that the right to own and use firearms is also one of the most contentious rights citizens have. This is especially so, because when a crime is committed with the use of a firearm, the consequences are often profound. There is also now a stigma in the United States with regard to firearms and firearm ownership. As such, most firearms charges are very serious in nature and the long-term consequences to those charges with such crimes are very harsh.
The right to keep and bear arms is also a very easy right to lose, and once lost, a very difficult right to restore. The Law Offices of Jason R. Firearms Rights
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is certainly one of the most important, but also one of the most controversial in the Constitution. There is no shortage of opinions on the matter, and most opinions very widely, and most individual are very strong in their assertions of what the Second Amendment means, and what rights or limitations it carries with it. Regardless of one’s stance or beliefs on the Second Amendment, U.S. Citizens do have a right to keep and bear arms. This right has been backed up by court cases and legislation for over two hundred years in the United States. However, once you lose this right it is a very difficult prospect to have the right restored.
Whether one has lost their Second Amendment right due to a felony conviction, a misdemeanor conviction to a domestic violence charge, or even the issuance of a protection order or a short-term commitment to a mental health hospital, it is often a very difficult and confusing path to have this fundamental right restored. If you find yourself in this predicament and are looking to have your rights restored, please give the firm a call, or click on the button to schedule a consultation appointment.
